Tour through Saxonburg

After attending a few classes, we had a tour through Saxonburg on Monday. Our guide was Mr. T. who showed us the beautifully turned out Main Street and the churches. We learned that everybody can start a new church in the USA and that all churches solely depend on donations so there is a lot of fundraising such as members of the congregation selling cakes etc.
Our next stop was at the museum where German-speaking (!) guides showed us how life was like in Saxonburg at the turn of the century.
As a special treat, we were allowed to enter the local fire department and police station as well as the courtroom. Students that play truant have to appear before a judge and might even be sent to boot camp!! We were horrified to find out that smoking one cigarette at school might easily cost you $375!!
After our tour, we headed back to Knoch High and went to class with our host students.
